The Hastings Diversified Utilities Fund (HDUF) owns and operates approximately 2,333 kilometres of gas transmission pipeline in South Australia, Queensland and Western Australia. Australian Ethical recognises the environmental advantages that natural gas has over other fossil fuel sources. According to research by Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE), natural gas usage is expected to account for 24 per cent of Australia’s energy consumption by 2020.
